Mighty Mike’s BoyleSports World Grand Prix Chances Looks Likely As Odds Shorten

BoyleSports World Grand Prix

The prospects of a sixth BoyleSports World Grand Prix title for Michael van Gerwen are getting stronger by the day after another convincing performance from the Dutchman in Coventry.

The defending champion is one of only two seeds left in the competition and he sent a message to his rivals by putting a recent 6-0 defeat to Devon Petersen behind him with a 3-0 victory over the same opponent on Thursday evening.

Van Gerwen had been a weak favourite before the event given doubts over recent form, but he has regained the support of punters by closing into 11/8 from 15/8 after his progression into the last eight.

A mouth-watering quarter-final clash with Simon Whitlock lies in wait for Van Gerwen

..after the Aussie took out some big finishes on route to a 3-2 victory over Mervyn King. The late entrant into the tournament is now just a 22/1 shot from 100/1, while Gary Anderson is edging closer to the favourites at 9/2 from 15/2 following his whitewash of Danny Noppert.
