De Bromhead Twobeelucky At Navan

Altior is the star of the show today but not from a betting point of view but there is still plenty to look forward to this Saturday afternoon with Haydock and Navan presenting the best value in handicaps.

Lynch’s Luck To Change
Andrew Lynch has endured some horrific injuries over the course of his career and isn’t long back from his latest when fracturing vertebrae last November.

Lynch has been back among the winners already this year but his biggest of the season so far could come in the €50,000 Grade B Navan Handicap Hurdle.

Twobeelucky was put in as a 20/1 shot last night and that looked a massive price about Henry de Bromhead’s six-year-old.

Winning a Grade B handicap in Ireland is no easy task and doing so with top weight is even more difficult but Twobeelucky could still be quite unexposed.

With just six runs over hurdles, Twobelucky has won three of those and the most recent was a four runner heat at Cheltenham in October 2017. Among the beaten horses that day was the Iain Jardine-trained Bedrock and having him behind you now looks to be fairly decent form.

Twobeelucky also ran well against Le Richebourg as a novice and his two disappointing runs since joining de Bromhead both came after a break and he can be forgiven for that.

Well beaten at Leopardstown over Christmas, the track at Navan may be more to his liking in a smaller and less competitive field and…

Twobeelucky is the pick at a big price in a wide open race.

Richard Can Be Rocking On Robin
BoyleSports ambassador Robbie Power is Ascot bound today and is therefore replaced by Richard Johnson on Robinsfirth who can win the Peter Marsh at Haydock should it survive an inspection this morning.

Robinsfirth is down to 5/1 now having been almost twice that price earlier in the week.

Without a run since winning at Cheltenham in December 2017, Robinsfirth is a 10-year-old now but he is relatively lightly raced.

Having been off the track for 400 days, faith has to be put in to the Tizzard’s to have him fit but that doesn’t tend to be an issue with their team and this doesn’t look the strongest Peter Marsh Chase of all time.

An ease in the ground and an extended three miles trip are really what suit Robinsfirth and with his issues keeping him from the track for a while he could still be the right side of the handicapper.

The late withdrawal of topweight and recent winner Valtor won’t do Robinsfirth’s chances any harm.

Recommended Bets:
Twobeelucky (20/1) – 1.35 Navan
Robinsfirth (5/1) – 3.15 Haydock
