Duncan Ferguson Moves Into Favourite For Everton Job

The chances of Duncan Ferguson being appointed next Everton manager have been slashed in the latest betting update as the race to replace Rafa Benitez heated up on Wednesday.

Everton parted company with the Spaniard after just six and a half months in charge following a run that has seen only one Premier League victory since September, and any plans to appoint Roberto Martinez appeared to hit a snag this week when the Belgian FA reportedly ruled out a dual role for their current manager.

The former Toffees boss has since been eased out to 7/1 from even money in the betting to return to Goodison Park and has now been overtaken as favourite by Ferguson, who has been placed in temporary charge for the weekend visit of Aston Villa.

He is now a 7/4 shot from 4/1 to be appointed on a permanent basis

..making him the new frontrunner for the job ahead of Derby County boss Wayne Rooney.

Everton are said to be lining up an interview with their former striker and he is now 5/2 from 9/2 to get the manager’s job, while Frank Lampard has also fallen in to 9/2 from 12/1 amid reports he is also on the shortlist.
