Elliott Can Double Up At Navan
With Aidan O’Brien having a quiet weekend Sir Michael Stoute has availed of the services of Ryan Moore for Sandown’s big race and it can prove a fruitful booking.
Quick Turnaround No Concern
Intimation was just Sir Michael Stoute’s second Irish runner last weekend when lining up in a Group 3 at the Curragh and running well behind Rain Goddess but providing there’s no ill-effects from that journey, connections can enjoy some compensation here in similar company.
Intimation was a winner at Naas last year on soft ground so the ease in the going at Sandown won’t be an issue.
Furthermore, Stoute isn’t the type of trainer that runs his horses back quickly all that often so you can be confident he has been happy with her wellbeing in the last few days and backers can support her to hold off the higher rated Aljazzi – who has her first run since Royal Ascot when putting in a career best behind Qemah.
It’s a competitive race but Intimation just got touched off by an improving sort at the Curragh and…
a repeat of that should be good enough.
Winners Pouring In For Weld
A disappointing turnout for the feature premier nursery at Navan today won’t bother Dermot Weld if he can continue his good run of form with India Rain.
Weld has saddled 10 winners in the last three weeks and India Rain was a winner and placed in good company when there was still some doubt over the form of his yard but with the winners returning and the selection getting plenty of weight off three-time winner Sirici, India Rain can be trusted to get back to winning ways and land the lion’s share of this €40,000 pot.
Her price at 9/4 makes plenty of appeal.
Elliott Can Double Up
Gordon Elliott and Declan McDonogh can combine to record a double at their local track today. Elliott will bag loads of winners here over jumps in the coming months but can saddle High Expectations to win for a second time in four days in the 1m6f handicap and then later double up with Walkabout in the finale.
High Expectations won with a bit in hand the other day at Bellewstown and has to contend with a 6lbs penalty here but is a worthy favourite in a race where few others make much appeal.
In the finale, Walkabout would look fairly well in. Over jumps, Walkabout brought himself up to a rating of 123 with his last win at Ballinrobe just under three weeks ago, but today he’ll run off just 49 in the second division of the 10-furlong handicap and while that comparison doesn’t always transfer, with the form of the Elliott horses and the ability that Walkabout has shown over hurdles…
he looks a good bet at 9/2.
Recommended Bets:
Intimation (4/1) – 3.00 Sandown
India Rain (9/4) – 3.30 Navan
High Expectations (7/2) – 4.05 Navan
Walkabout (9/2) – 5.45 Navan
