England Boss Gareth Southgate Told To Solve Problem With Brentford Ace
Gareth Southgate’s decision to pick so many right-backs in his England squad for the current UEFA Nations League games has been questioned.
The manager selected five right-backs in his 27-man squad for the internationals, while Manchester City right back Kyle Walker played 90 minutes at left back for the Three Lions in their 1-1 draw with Germany.

“I think it’s a problem for England not to have a left footer at left back,” Natalie Sawyer, Football Ambassador for BoyleSports, said.
“At Brentford we have Rico Henry who could play for England and I thought he may have been given an opportunity, more so than Ivan Toney just because of that left side being an issue. I feel sorry for someone like him who could have been given a chance.
“Looking forward hopefully Ben Chilwell can recover from injury in the new season and Luke Shaw can be considered too.
“But hopefully Rico Henry can have a great start next season and be considered in the future. To pick five right-backs and not try an out-and-out left back when there was one available is very odd.”
