Flurry of Bets on New Rose Of Tralee Favourite

Down Rose Orlagh McNally has stormed her way to the top of the betting for the Rose of Tralee following an avalanche of bets overnight.

The 23 year-old from Saval had her price cut to 7/2 from 4/1 and has edged out the early favourites in the betting.

On the eve of the first live show, the newly qualified doctor has secured legions of supporters and now looks like a major contender.

The Sydney and Dublin Roses have commanded the large majority of bets in the market from early on but Sydney Rose Aisling Walsh is out to 9/2 from 4/1 behind Dublin Rose Maria Coughlan at 4/1.

Another early contender, San Francisco Rose Amanda Donohoe is 6/1 in the betting.

The final 32 candidates have been chosen for the live interviews on Monday and Tuesday night with Offaly Rose Jennifer Byrne positioned well at 8/1. Byrne represented Ireland on the world stage as an international soccer player and punters have backed her in from an earlier price of 50/1.

The Rose of Tralee will air on Monday and Tuesday night.
