Dean Smith Backed To Guide Norwich To Premier League Safety
Betting trends in Norwich have suggested their survival hopes have received a boost by the appointment of Dean Smith as their new manager.
Smith was sacked by Aston Villa just over a week ago after five straight defeats, but it was confirmed on Monday morning that he has sealed an immediate return to Premier League management in the Carrow Road dugout as a replacement for Daniel Farke.
Norwich City, who sit bottom of the table with only five points from their opening eleven games,
have now been cut into 4/1 from 11/2 to mount a revival and finish the season clear of the relegation zone.
More immediately, Smith’s tenure begins with two home games against Southampton and Wolves before his first road trip to Newcastle at the end of the month and the Canaries are 9/2 shots to go unbeaten in their first three games under the new manager.
The chances of them taking a maximum six points off Aston Villa are rated at 10/1 ahead of their first clash this season with Smith’s ex-employers at Carrow Road next month.
