Beth Mead is now the odds-on favourite to be crowned 2022 BBC Sports Personality of the Year after England Women’s Euro 2022 tournament win.

Mead was a remote 80/1 shot in the betting at the start of the tournament, but Mead kicked off the final Wembley as 7/4 favourite as she led the goals race alongside Germany’s Alexandra Popp.

Mead’s superior assist count ensured she was handed the Golden Boot and she has now sunk into 4/11 with BoyleSports to scoop the BBC award having been named Player of the Tournament.

Captain Leah Williamson is now second favourite at 10/1 from 66/1 while Ronnie O’Sullivan, who had been favourite for the award since he matched Stephen Hendry’s haul of seven world snooker titles in May, has been pushed out to 10/1 from 3/1.
