Goals Galore: Most Exciting Teams In European Football

Every week without fail, punters across the UK and Ireland are sticking on their weekend doubles, trebles and accumulators in the hope of hitting the jackpot.

For those of you who love betting on goals – and that’s a lot of you, including myself – here’s a list of teams who just love attacking football, guaranteeing your overs nearly every weekend. They come from leagues all across European football so you get the best value for your picks.

So without further ado, here we go:

Olympique Marseille

The much vaunted Marcelo Bielsa took over the French giants back in May and immediately set about re-energizing the Riviera-based club after a barren last few seasons.

Bielsa’s teams always play a firebrand, expansive style of football that generally see his sides score a lot of goals, sometimes conceding a few in the process. In Marseille’s first eight matches under ‘El Loco’ they have scored 21 goals at an average of 2.6 per game and conceded 7. Their games in total average 3.5 goals a game and anyone who watches French football regularly will know how big this is.

Ligue 1 offers great value in terms of goals due to frequently tight games so Marseille are definite ones to watch this season.

Bayer Leverkusen

For overs backers, the Bundesliga is one of the big money-makers. The majority of its teams are built to attack from the word go; you’ll rarely see a BuLi game end 0-0 purely because the primary aim is to score goals. Bayer Leverkusen under Roger Schmidt are one of its biggest exponents of goals.

The former Red Bull Salzburg coach has instilled a brand of football this season that sees Leverkusen in perpetual motion, constantly attacking at full throttle. This means they score and concede goals for fun. Their six games so far this season have involved 20 goals at an average of 3.3 a game.

They have hit a dry patch recently, only scoring 1 in their last two but this won’t last long under Schmidt and the goals will flow again. Keep an eye on them.

RB Salzburg

Speaking of RB Salzburg, the Austrian giants have continued their full-court press style of football instilled by Schmidt under new coach, Adolf Hutter.

The Red Bull-owned side are effectively the PSG/Bayern/Man City/Chelsea of Austrian football with most of their squad a level above most other players in the league. As a result, their games involve lots of goals, beating lots of handicaps.

In their first 10 league games, 44 goals have been scored at an average of a huge 4.4 a game. In those 10 games, they’ve scored 35 goals alone, averaging 3.5 a game. They are a veritable goldmine.

Manchester United

It may seem an obvious one but under Louis Van Gaal, with a defence that would make a retired Phil Babb look world class, there was only ever going to be one outcome: goals.

Outrageously, the Dutchmen and the United board failed to address their defensive issues and instead, continued to add world class attacker after world class attacker.

In just 6 games, there has been 23 goals scored at an average of 3.8 a game and this trend will continue due to the combination of their defensive frailties and attacking talents.

Borussia Dortmund

No one has to tell you to look to Jurgen Klopp’s men for goals but the difference this season is the German giants are suffering badly with injuries and their games so far are reflecting that.

In just six games involving the Westfalenstadion club, there has been 20 goals scored at an average of 3.3 a game and their opponents are registering nearly 2 goals a game against them, too.

Backing teams to score over 1.5 goals against Klopp’s team at the minute could have you in some serious profit.
