We could indeed have a title race on our hands come kick-off at the Santiago Bernabeu. Sevilla in second look favourites to pick up all three points away at strugglers Alaves on Friday night, thus closing the gap on Madrid to just three points.

The pressure will be on Carlo Ancelotti’s side to deliver and opponents Real Sociedad are no easy task, gunning for European qualification in sixth going into the match. They’re also recognised in La Liga as no pushovers compared to the mid-table club we once witnessed years before, and have qualified for Europe in the past two seasons.

Pushing their claims further, they have the third-best defence in La Liga this season with 25 goals conceded – they have six shutouts in their last ten – so you could certainly consider the clean sheet market at 9/2.

But the hosts are favourites in the match betting as you’d expect at 8/13, with the visitors 4/1, and the draw 3/1.

A 1-0 win against Rayo Vallecano last week kept their six-point lead intact, while it also represented a fourth clean sheet in a row. They’re 11/8 for a shutout. Impressive, but surely this encounter on Saturday night is going to put reaching a fifth to the test.

Madrid also have one eye on Wednesday’s crucial Champions League second leg tie to Paris St Germain.

Fancy a fast start? We’ve boosted both teams to score in the first half to 4/1. Don’t miss our other Price Boosts further down.

Both teams are high up in the form guide in third and fourth, with one point more for Madrid, who have scored seven and conceded twice in the last five games. While the away side have scored five and conceded four – so we may not have a high-scoring match on our hands.

Under 3.5 goals is 4/11 in the betting, Under 2.5 goals is currently EVENS and if you fancy just the one, Under 1.5 goals is 3/1.

In the goalscorer markets on offer, La Liga’s top two goalscorers Karim Benzema and Vincius Jr lead the betting at 11/4 and 9/4. The former has hit 19 goals along with nine assists in La Liga, while the latter has 13 strikes and six assists.

Asensio offers good value at 6/1 to hit the opener and 2/1 anytime with his seven goals so far, while for Sociedad their top goalscorer with eight goals is midfielder Mikel Oyarzabal and has anytime odds of 5/2.

PREDICTION: The pressure will be on Real Madrid if second-placed Sevilla win their game Friday night at second-bottom Alaves, cutting the lead to three points. Sociedad are in the mix for a Champions League place and it could be a very close encounter.
We think both teams to score is on the table – but it might not come until the second half – and indeed a Score Draw (4/1) as the final result. This could be a significant weekend in the title race.
