Seeley’s Selections – Argentina v Colombia

Argentina v Colombia

Match Betting

It’s without question the biggest match of this year’s Copa America quarter-finals but the clash between two South American powerhouses Argentina and Colombia is not going to be the best.

Argentina individually have the best squad of players in world football but they never deliver on the big stage and despite their array of talent, they haven’t won this competition since back in 1993.

The Argies are rated 20/23 to make it through to yet another semi-final inside 90 minutes and all tournament they have been a popular choice with BoyleSports punters and I don’t expect them to desert them ahead of this one.

Gerardo Martino’s side finished top of Group B, which wasn’t a surprise to anybody, but the way they’ve played in this tournament has been like they’ve barely got out of first gear and if they are to justify their odds-on favourite status in this quarter-final, they have got to really step up their level of play.

We all know how great the La Albiceleste are going forward with the likes of Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero and Gonzalo Higuaín amongst their ranks but defensively they are as mean as they get having now kept five clean sheets in their last seven internationals and two already in the group stage. Many Argentina backers may prefer to take the 13/8 with BoyleSports on an Argentinian win to nil.

Colombia have looked a shadow of the side that played with so much flair to reach the quarter-finals of the last summer’s World Cup and they can’t be touched even at the 7/2 available with BoyleSports.

The Colombians produced their best display in an ill-tempered 1-0 win over Brazil but a 1-0 defeat against Venezuela and a 0-0 draw with Peru were two very disappointing displays which may see them pay the price for finishing third in their group.

Both of these great footballing nations haven’t performed in this tournament and with major doubts about whether their star players have the legs to do so after such long domestic seasons, I could only make a case for the draw which is 23/10 with BoyleSports.

It’s incredible to think that with all the attacking flair on display that under 2.5 goals looks the best bet in the match at 1/2 with BoyleSports but it really does as does the under 1.5 goals make appeal at a much more attractive 6/4.

Seven of the last nine Colombian internationals have seen under 2.5 goals as a winner with the only exception being comfortable wins over the mighty Bahrain and Kuwait.

Both teams to score as a “no” has also been a winner in eight of the last ten Colombia internationals and also in five of the last seven Argentina games.

That also is a wager at the 6/10 with BoyleSports.

I never thought I would be saying this in a football match when Messi, Aguero, Higuain and Colombia’s James Rodriguez, Jackson Martinez and Carols Bacca were all on the same football pitch, but this really could turn into a real bore and no goalscorer might look silly now at the 6/1 with BoyleSports but it could be the way to profit.

B Lucky!
