Seeley’s Selections – Chile v Mexico

Chile v Mexico

Match Betting

Chile should comfortably book their place into the quarter-finals of the Copa America in the early hours of Tuesday morning with a straight forward win against Mexico.

The Chileans took their time to shine in their opener against Ecuador and they are going to have to perform a lot better than they did in the tournament opener if they are as I predict, to go on and win their first Copa America.

Let’s put the opening performance down to nerves and things will get a lot better and La Roja look to me as though they have another couple of gears to go into if required.

Chile are just 4/9 to get maximum points against the Mexicans and even at that price, they are a great bet as the gearbox could be stuck in neutral all game on Tuesday morning and they would still get the better of this Mexican team.

The Mexicans have bigger fish to fry with the start of the CONCACAF Gold Cup just a couple of days after the action in Chile and that is where their priorities lie.
All their big guns are sunning it on the Copacabana and their entire squad barring veteran defender Rafael Márquez is made up of players from the Mexican league and youngsters plying their trade in Europe. They will be out of their depth in this one.

Of all the teams I’ve seen so far in the opening matches, Mexico were the worst by some way and they struggled to get a point against the mighty Bolivia.

There is no chance that Miguel Herrera’s side are going to win this and that’s why they are 8/1 with BoyleSports and I’m confident that Los Manitos are not going to score against the Chileans.

The 11/10 with BoyleSports on Chile to win to nil is a cracking bet – and one of the best bets of the tournament so far.

Everybody raves about how good Chile are going forward and they are excellent, but defensively they are up there with the best in the world and have now kept clean sheets in their last two internationals.

Now they’ve got the opening game under their belts, the pressure will be off the hosts ahead of this one and that to me spells danger for the Mexicans and this could turn into a rout.

Chile -1 goal is already seeing some support with BoyleSports and still is a bet I really like at the current 6/5 which is expected to go very quickly. I believe if Chile score early they will throw off the shackles and cruise this with a 4-0 win which is tempting for everybody at 14/1 and is surprisingly is another scoreline that is seeing early support.

Eduardo Vargas and Juventus’ Arturo Vidal were on the scoresheet in the opening win and they will be popular again at the 4/1 and 9/2 respectively with BoyleSports to add to their goal tally with the opener in this one.

At the 11/4 with BoyleSports though I’ve got to stick with my top goalscorer selection for the tournament, Alexis Sanchez, and I’m taking the Arsenal striker to start proceedings with the first goal in a easy win.

I’m expecting this to be all one way traffic for the red-hot Chileans and at 19/5, I’m also going to take that with BoyleSports on Sanchez making his mark in this tournament with two goals or more.

B Lucky!
