Seeley’s Selections – Chile v Peru

Chile v Peru

Match Betting

Our pre-tournament selection Chile are looking very good to win their first ever Copa America title and they shouldn’t have too many problems in their semi-final with tournament surprise package, Peru, on Tuesday morning.

La Roja have been the best team in this tournament by some margin and even at BoyleSports’ very short 40/85 to win this in 90 minutes, it really is just impossible to look past them.

They’ve gotten better and better as the tournament has gone on and I’m not somebody for cashing out on any ante-post positions and in fact I would go in again at the 11/8 with BoyleSports on them winning their first South American championship.

Going forward, they are just unstoppable and have goals from all over the pitch and they will score against Peru; that’s a certainty and for me it’s just a question of how many they will get in a frenzied national stadium in Santiago.

Not many of you will be attracted by the short prices on Jorge Sampaoli’s side winning this one and I’ve banged on about it all tournament, but it’s a valid point and one we should remember when betting; they get the plaudits for their attacking flair, but they still get criticised for their defence, why?

They’ve already kept three clean sheets in this tournament while in their last nine international matches, EIGHT of them have been won to nil.

That is where I’m heading in this one at the very generous 23/20 with BoyleSports which appeals to all.

The Chileans were rock solid in their 1-0 quarter-final success against defending champions Uruguay and at 4/1 with BoyleSports on another 1-0 victory, that also looks a spot of value.

The big problem for Peru is scoring goals and La Blanquirroja have now only scored one or nothing in eight of their last ten matches and I just can’t see them troubling the hosts in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

This has been a tournament of upsets and this would be one of the biggest of the tournament if Ricardo Gareca’s side could pull off a 13/2 surprise and I just can’t see it as the Chileans are in red-hot form and are so much better in every department.

Chile have three players in the top 10 of the goalscoring charts in this event and Arsenal target Arturo Vidal leads the way as the top goalscorer in the competition with three goals and at 5/1 with BoyleSports, he will be a popular choice.

The player that has impressed me most though is Napoli’s Eduardo Vargas and the pacey striker looks a totally different player to that which suffered Premier League relegation last season on loan at QPR and I like the 4/1 with BoyleSports on him to open the scoring.

Vargas is a man on a mission, not only to help his nation win a first Copa America, but to also showcase his talents to Europe’s elite and with something to prove after a disastrous season is West London, I’m taking him to score this first goal in a 1-0 win for the hosts.

B Lucky!
