Seeley’s Selections – Everton v Dynamo Kiev

Everton v Dynamo Kiev

Outright Betting

WHICH Everton are going to turn up on Thursday night? Thats the question you’ve got to ask when having a bet on the night’s Europa League clash between Everton and Dynamo Kiev at Goodison Park.

Everton have been shocking in the Premier League with just one win in their last 14 matches and are real lively candidates for the drop, but on a Thursday night, well it’s a totally different side.

Roberto Martinez’ men have produced their best performances of the season in this competition doing the double over Wolfsburg in the group stage and in the last round they battered Young Boys 7-2 on aggregate in yet another convincing display.

They’ve won three of their four home games in this competition and the only loss was when they rested their entire starting XI in a dead rubber against Krasnodar.

In those three wins they’ve banged in 10 goals and despite their awful domestic form there is a lot to like about the home side in this one at BoyleSports 5/4.

Martinez will be taking this match very, very seriously as really it’s keeping him a job and the moment and against a Kiev side that aren’t the best of travellers, I can see them taking a slender lead over to the Ukraine next week.

Dynamo Kiev have never won in England, losing nine of the 11 ties and they aren’t going to start in this one even if the 23/10 with BoyleSports may tempt a few.

In the last round they came from behind to book their place in the last 16 after they lost 2-1 in northern France against Guingamp, but they won 3-1 at home and thats the kind of tie I’m expecting again in this one.

Even through I like Everton for the match I still think the Ukrainians will progress through to the quarter-finals which is 11/10 with BoyleSports, but that is a bet that would interest me after the first leg.

Kiev are unbeaten at home both domestically and in European competition and even if they go back with a narrow defeat, they still will be very confident of overturning it.

Both teams scored in both of their ties at the last 32 stage for Everton against Young Boys and in Dynamo Kiev’s two matches with Guingamp and with two very attack minded sides going at it, I really can see both teams scoring again and that would be in my BoyleSports Europa League BTTS accumulators at the 4/5.

Martinez knows he has to have a good old go at this Kiev side as the return leg is still one of the toughest trips to make in Europe and I’m expecting to see goals in a right ding dong battle and BoyleSports 22/1 on a 3-2 home win looks decent.

Romelu Lukaku scored four goals in the last round against Young Boys and he is the man Martinez’ will be looking for to score the goals in this one and at 9/2 with BoyleSports on the Belgium international to score the opener he really is the only sensible choice.
