Seeley’s Selections – Fulham v Charlton

Stats

Fulham v Charlton

Match Betting

This weekend Sunderland (17th in Premier League) entertain Arsenal (7th in the Premier League. Imagine what you would do if Boylesports offered you 7/2 about the Gunners?

You’d get stuck in..

Well on Friday night, the team in seventh in the Championship, Charlton, travel to the team in seventeenth, Fulham, and guess what? Boylesports will give you 7/2 on the visitors. On first glance that has to be worth a wager, but before we get tapping on the phone/tablet, there are reasons why we shouldn’t lump on and there are better betting options in this London Derby.

Both teams do arrive here in great current form and this should be a very entertaining and close match-up. After a poor start to their season, with seven defeats from their first nine matches, Fulham are now on a decent run with just one defeat from their last six matches but should they really be just 5/6 with Boylesports to win against a Charlton side that have only lost once all season?

Bob Peeters was a shock appointment at the Valley after the departure of Charlton legend Chris Powell but the Belgian has been mighty impressive this season and their performances have gone well under the Boylesports Championship odds compilers’ noses.

Boylesports’ 7/2 on the visitors is an insult, but what’s putting me off from tipping them and having a lumpy wager on is this the fact they’ve drawn seven of those games (the highest in the Championship). Peeters sets his side out not to get beat, and with three draws from their six road games, instead of taking the big price on the Addicks, the much safer and sensible option is to play the Charlton-Draw (Double Chance) market at 20/21.

Seven of Charlton’s last eight matches have featured under 2.5 goals and the 7/10 on that trend to continue looks a very safe option. Boylesports’ oddsmakers will point to Fulham’s great recent record against Charlton unbeaten in their last 10 matches at Craven Cottage but again, a lot have been stalemates and the draw does look appealing here at 13/5.

Also the 11/2 with Boylesports for the match to end in a 1-1 draw would be my idea of a scoreline. The last two matches between the pair at Craven Cottage ended 1-1 and there is every reason and stat to suggest that this is going to be a very close one yet again, a lot closer than the odds suggest.

B Lucky!
