Seeley’s Selections: Germany v Republic Of Ireland

Germany v Republic Of Ireland

Match Betting

I’m getting a reputation amongst my pals as “boring Nige” which is nothing to do with the fact I don’t go out and meet the boys every now and again,

…it’s because they’ve all read this Boylesports column and seen that I’ve tipped up a few 0-0s and are far from happy with me.

Well Eamonn, Gary, Jason and Big Tel, you will all be very pleased to know that in tonight’s match between Germany and Ireland….I fancy goals and a lot of them.

A trip to Germany to face the world champions is never going to be an easy ask and whichever way you look at their 2-0 defeat at Poland, could it be a good time to face them or a bad time to clash with Joachim Low’s wounded tigers?

I’m personally in the latter camp.

The scoreline on Saturday against Poland didn’t tell the full story of the match, the Germans could and should have scored five before the Poles opened the scoring and when pushing for an equaliser they were hit on the counter. I fully expect them to put in a performance tonight but at 1/4 with Boylesports to win this Group D match, I couldn’t get involved.

The Irish will be very popular with patriotic punters at Boylesports at 11/1 to get a shock win but I can’t see that happening despite their fine start to the this qualification campaign.

I really like both teams to score at 21/20 with Boylesports and that would be my best wager of the night.

Martin O’Neil’s men will take great heart from the performances of both Poland and Scotland who both scored goals against a Germany defence that is in transition due to retirements and injuries. The Irish have scored in nine of their last 11 matches and they will really have a go at this vulnerable defence.

However poor they are at the back though going forward they have some of the best attacking players in the World. I really can’t see the Irish shutting them out for 90-minutes and if you are being unpatriotic and backing the Germans, it’s better to play on the both teams to score and Germany to win market at 19/10 with Boylesports rather than the short odds-on just to win in the 90-minutes.

We’ve been in decent form with our correct-score predictions in this International week and a small wager on a 3-1 Germany win at 9/1 is my choice for the most likely score-line here. I always like backing Chelsea’s Andre Schurrle in the goalscoring markets when he pulls on the national team jersey, he plays in a much more advanced role for his nation than he does for his club and with no centre-forward really, he’s always a goal threat.

Boylesports will offer you 3/1 that he opens the scoring in Gelsenkirchen which I’m all over and REMEMBER if you back a first goalscorer and he scores the second goal Boylesports will refund all losing first goalscorer bets on this match.

Robbie Keane is 10/1 to open the scoring and 19/5 to score at anytime. He’s also a massive 150/1 to score back-to-back international hat-tricks for the most patriotic of Boylesports punters.

Happy now boys?

B Lucky!
