Seeley’s Selections – PSG v Chelsea

PSG v Chelsea

Outright Betting

Champions League football returns on Tuesday and what a game we have to start the Last 16 action off with when Premier League title favourites Chelsea travel to the Parc des Princes to take on Paris St Germain live on ITV.

This is one of the toughest matches of the football season to call for me, it really is, and it’s no surprise to see the BoyleSport odds-compilers finding it tough as well, they make Chelsea marginal favourites at 7/4 with the hosts 9/5 but until the heavy punting starts tomorrow either side could start favourite.

If you have read my columns this season you would have gathered by now that games when the layers can’t split the two sides get my juices flowing and this is no exception, in fact it’s one of my bonko bets of the season.

The draw has to be backed in this at the massive 9/4 which is available NOW with BoyleSports it’s the most obvious outcome, and yet it’s the biggest price of all three and that for me spells value.

PSG had a weekend to forget, they were leading 2-0 at home to Caen only for them to finish the game with NINE players, losing two through injury and ended up hanging on for a 2-2 draw.

It’s always a tough task when you face Chelsea, but to do so with injury doubts to Marquinhos, Yohan Cabaye, Lucs Moura and Serge Aurier the challenge becomes a lot tougher.

They spent millions in the summer and manager Laurent Blanc was told he MUST win the domestic title and make the quarter-finals at least of this years Champions League. Defeat here could spell the end of his reign.

Before we all get carried away and go steaming into BoyleSports 7/4 on the visitors, PSG are unbeaten in their last 32 home European matches, so this is going to be far from a walk in the Parc des Princes.

Whilst PSG were losing players through injury Jose Mourinho and his troops had their fit up, as they didn’t feature in the FA Cup 5th round this weekend (the loss to Bradford doesn’t look so bad know).

The big news from the Chelsea camp is the return from suspension of Diego Costa and the Spanish international is 9/2 with BoyleSports to open the scoring on Tuesday night.

The two have met before in the Champions league twice before and both have a win a piece in Paris and I really think honours will stay level with a draw in this one.

When Chelsea won the Champions League in 2012 they were rock solid on the road and impossible to beat at Stamford Bridge and if they can get them back to London all square they will be delighted, the French champions have NEVER scored at The Bridge and I don’t expect them to in the next leg either.

As you will gather by now, I’m all over the draw, but if 9/4 isn’t the kind of price for you, then I think 1-1 would be a nice alternative at the more working man’s price of 5/1 with BoyleSports.

Costa will be a popular choice for the first goalscorer at the 9/2 on his return as will the Parisians talisman Zlatan Ibrahimovic at BoyleSports also at 9/2, my choice would be Chelsea’s Eden Hazard at BoyleSports 7/1.

On current form the Belgium international is right up there with the best on the planet and his confidence will be sky high after penning a mega five-year deal at Stamford Bridge and I think he will reward first goalscorer backers with the opener in this one.

Seeley’s Selections:
Draw @ 9/4
Correct Score – PSG 1-1 Chelsea @ 5/1
Eden Hazard First Goalscorer @ 7/1
