Seeley’s Selections – Uruguay v Jamaica

Cool Runnings was a film made about the Jamaican bobsleigh team and I can’t see any movies been made in years to come about the nation’s football team in this years Copa America. If they did it might be a video nasty.

The Jamaicans are making their Copa America debut on Saturday night and it doesn’t come much tougher than a Group B opener with defending champions Uruguay.

BoyleSports make Jamaica their massive 12/1 underdogs to get off to winning ways but this could turn out to be a real baptism of fire for the “Reggae Boys”. The Jamaicans are a lowly 65th in the FIFA world rankings which is 57 places below their opponents and I wouldn’t part with any cash on them even if you added another nought
to that price.

Group B also features tournament favourites Argentina and there is a good chance that this could come down to goal difference to see who tops the group and I really fancy the holders to score a hatful in this one.

Odds on punters will be out in force with BoyleSports’ offer of 1/4 on a Uruguay win and rightly so, but you aren’t going to get rich backing these prices unless you are minted already. Uruguay look certainties to win this game and I can’t see the Jamaicans threatening at all. A Uruguay win to nil at 4/5 with BoyleSports has been popular already with clients.

With this expected to be very one-sided and with no Suarez in the squad, Cavani is going to be the main man. With the majority of his goals coming in streaks, I’m very tempted by the 19/5 on him scoring two or more and the 16/1 on him to grab a hat-trick.
