Republic of Ireland 1990-92
Italia ’90 is a hotbed of classic football kits and who can forget Republic of Ireland’s iconic home jersey? They wore it in their famous penalty shootout victory over Romania and this goes down as one of the smartest in Ireland’s back catalogue, second only to the white tracksuit they wore when Big Jack took them to see the Pope.

AC Milan 1994-95
If there’s one strip Italian sides didn’t like seeing in the 90s it was this AC Milan home jersey. The Italian giants were virtually unbeatable in this era and so was their kit, masterfully worn by one of the meanest defences in history including Paolo Maldini and Franco Baresi.

Tottenham 1991-93
Legend has it that Spurs changed their kit to white towards the end of the 19th century in homage to double winners Preston North End. The change has survived to this day and the first outing for this 90s jersey will never be forgotten, certainly not by Gazza who wore it for 17 minutes before ending his Tottenham career with a ligament-tearing tackle on Gary Charles.

England 1990-92
England’s third jersey for the 1990 World Cup never came out of the case as Bobby Robson’s men ended up in white for all of their fixtures. The most famous outing for these change colours therefore remains the video for New Order’s World In Motion featuring the unforgettable John Barnes rap. All together now: “You’ve got to hold and give, but do it at the right time…”

Liverpool 1989-91
Manchester United infamously changed from a grey kit at half-time due to allegedly not being able to see each other. Liverpool seemed to have no problem though as Champions in their away Candy effort from 1989-91. They haven’t won the league since mind; time to dig into the Anfield vaults and recreate this classic?

Manchester United 1990-92
Who remembers Lee Sharpe’s League Cup hat-trick at Highbury? Or Brian McClair’s Wembley winner against Forest in the same competition? Both featured this United classic, nicknamed the ‘acid house’, a design Adidas have revisited for recent United efforts.

West Germany 1990-92
World Cup 1990 was memorable for so many reasons. Amongst the talking points were Rudi Voller & Frank Rijkaard in spitgate, Jurgen Klinsmann diving and Andreas Brehme’s winning penalty in the final. All three involved our favourite classic shirt of all, this iconic number from the West German archives.
