Fort Can Down Air Force Blue

There’s Group 1 action at the Curragh today in which Caravaggio will be attempting to cement himself as the leading juvenile around this season.

But that is not where money will be made by the every day punters so we have to look elsewhere.

Air Force Blue to the Fort
Any race that features Air Force Blue is intriguing these days as the winner of today’s feature race 12-months ago has failed to ignite this season as we all expected.

Air Force Blue has the tongue tie on again and he does get weight from all six of his rivals but he is opposed for Eddie Lynam’s admirable filly Fort Del Oro.

Unlike the favourite, Fort Del Oro is a filly who very rarely doesn’t bring her best to the table.

And while on ratings she does have a bit to find, her professional display in conceding 8lbs and still going away to win at Naas last month was a very likeable performance.

The filly is an 11/2 shot for the Group 3 and hopefully she’ll prove value for that.

Man in Form
Jim Bolger’s four-timer on Thursday at Leopardstown wasn’t his first at the Foxrock track but his horses are certainly in good form and he may be able to land the last at HQ on Sunday with Mrs King.

The three-year-old kept good company last season as a juvenile and was tried in a Group 3 albeit as a 25/1 shot, and her first run of the season in March didn’t see her get the clearest of passages from start to finish.

But the experience of that will hopefully stand to her and in her handicap debut she is capable of making her mark at around 10/1.

Night Cap for Meade
The 2m7f maiden hurdle at Downpatrick won’t be the strongest contests of all time and it looks a very winnable opportunity for Night Generation.

The four-year-old was a recruit from the flat and has already had three runs in maidens and even had three goes in handicaps, but this looks a very good chance for him to open his account over flights.

Recommended Bets:
Fort del Oro (11/2) 4.05 Curragh
Night Generation (2/1) 4.15 Downpatrick
Mrs King (11/1) 5.05 Curragh
