France Eurovision Odds – Can They Win First Song Contest Since ’77?

In this post you can find France Eurovision odds as they bid to win their first Eurovision Song Contest since all the way back in 1977.

Sweden remain the strong 8/13 favourites to win the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest but France are making a massive move up the betting according to BoyleSports.

France Eurovision Odds

France’s odds of winning Eurovision 2023 are 12/1. The French are chasing a sixth title and their odds were hammered all the way into 12/1 from a previous price of 33/1 on Thursday morning.

This massive odds movement makes them the biggest movers in the Eurovision betting market in the last month.

Who Will Represent France At Eurovision 2023?

France will be represented at Eurovision 2023 by singer-songwriter La Zarra. The artist La Zarra is in fact not French but rather a Canadian who was born and grew up in Montreal, a French speaking part of Canada.

La Zarra first rose to prominence in 2016 thanks to the success of her debut single Printemps blanc. In January of this year she was picked to represent France at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest which will make her the second Canadian to represent the country in the Eurovision.

What Is France’s Eurovision Song?

France’s Eurovision song in 2023 is Évidemment which will be sung by La Zarra at the song contest in Liverpool this May. The title Évidemment translates to ‘obviously’ in English.

The song has already racked up 3.4 million views and 60k likes on the Eurovision YouTube channel. You can listen to France’s Eurovision song below.

How Many Times Have France Won Eurovision?

France has won the Eurovision six times. That tally of six wins for the French puts them in a tie for third in the all-time Eurovision winners list. Only Ireland, with seven wins, and Sweden, with six wins, have more victories at the Eurovision than France.

Luxembourg, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands also have five wins each. Although France might be one of the most successful countries in Eurovision history they are now almost 50 years without a win in the competition with their last Eurovision win coming all the way back in 1977.

Which Semi-Final Are France Competing In At Eurovision 2023?

France will not be competing in either of the semi-finals at Eurovision 2023. This is because they have already prequalified for the Eurovision Final thanks to being one of the five largest financial contributors to help fund the competition.

Eurovision Betting Trends

Finland has participated 55 times at Eurovision with just one victory recorded back in 2006, but 2023 could be their year if the betting trends are anything to go by. Sweden are dominating, but Finland are not going away with 3/1 available. The closest rivals to the top two are Ukraine who are 11/1.

Ireland’s bid to end a 27-year run without a Eurovision win will be fronted by Wild Youth and the Dublin fourpiece are now 80/1 shots (drifting from 66/1) to top the leaderboard, while the UK are also on the drift out to 33/1 from 11/1 to bag a first Eurovision victory since 1997.

Sarah Kinsella, Spokesperson for BoyleSports commented:

Sweden, who has Ireland’s all-time record of seven Eurovision victories in its sights, are the strong favourites but the French are now being backed.

They are our biggest movers we have seen this month so we will be keeping a close eye on the market with the event less than two weeks away.”
