“The Munster SHC final was one of the best games we have witnessed in the last couple of years,” said Shane.

“There were a lot of contributing factors to it. I remember back in 2014 when Limerick played Kilkenny in the All-Ireland SHC semi-final and the weather was so bad that people embraced it and made it what it was. I think it was something similar in the Munster final. It was a savage game and an unbelievable ending.

“For long periods I thought Clare were going to win and then Limerick looked like they would win, only for Clare to claw their way back. It had everything. Clare now head to Thurles to meet Wexford as the overwhelming favourites off the back of that performance.

“If Clare bring what they brought to the Munster final then they win providing it hasn’t taken too much out of them. I think it will be straight forward and I don’t think Wexford can match when Clare did.

“I think Wexford are very good, but I just don’t think they can put it up to Clare to the same level as the Munster final. Clare were very good in the Munster Championship overall so this performance didn’t come out of the blue – they have been good all year.

“We will have to wait and see if the Munster final defeat has deflated them but I’m sticking with Clare despite a few question marks and Wexford have struggled to beat them over the last few years.”
