Huge Price Cut On Mickey Harte To Guide Louth To Promotion

A sustained gamble on Mickey Harte becoming the new Louth Senior Football manager proved to be on the money when he was confirmed as Wayne Kierans’ replacement on Monday evening just ten days after vacating the Tyrone hotseat.

The Errigal Ciaran clubman was a 10/1 shot for the job on Monday morning but plummeted into 4/9 before betting closed and he was later confirmed as having penned a three-year deal.

The announcement has already triggered a burst of support for an instant change in fortunes for the Wee County, who were relegated to the National League Division 4 this season and fell at the first hurdle of the Leinster Championship with defeat to Longford.

They have already shortened into 1/3 from 4/6 to bounce straight back up next season and are 6/4 from 5/2 to go up as Division 4 champions. Two straight promotions, which would see Louth in Division 2 by 2022, is just a 9/2 shot from 8/1.

A first appearance in the Leinster Final since 2010 has been clipped into 12/1 from 16/1.

While the chances of Louth ending Dublin’s dominance in the province is still a massive 100/1 shot, the most optimistic of locals were happy to snap up the 200/1 that was available shortly after Harte’s appointment.

Our customers in the Wee County are clearly buzzing over the appointment but we’re also seeing support from around the country that Louth’s fortunes will be revived.
