Kevin Cassidy Signs Up As New BoyleSports GAA Ambassador

Two-time All-Star and Donegal legend Kevin Cassidy has joined BoyleSports as their new GAA ambassador.

The Gaoth Dobhair club man has won Ulster titles at both club and county level and joins BoyleSports ahead of this year’s Football League campaign which begins this weekend.

Cassidy however is predicting a tough start for his old side with Donegal welcoming Mayo to Ballybofey on Saturday evening.

He said: “Donegal have been very hard to beat at home but I have a sneaky feeling this Mayo side could pull it off at the weekend. They have good momentum, they have Ciaran McDonald in the back room set up to add a boost and Mayo at the top of their game might sneak it.

“We have rested a lot of our older players in the off-season, the likes of Neil McGee and Michael Murphy have been given more time off, so it’s hard to expect those guys to come straight in and hit the ground running. I think we can put a strong campaign together, blood a few new players and finish strongly towards the end of the league to get us ready for the Championship.”

Cassidy also singled out Galway as a side to watch ahead of throw-in this weekend as they begin their league campaign with a home clash against Monaghan.

“Padraic Joyce is in there, there’s a new set up and the lads will be keen to impress. We have criticised Galway for their defensive style of play, but Joyce was a flair footballer and he’s going to change that style. I’ll be keeping my eye on Galway, not only in the National League but possibly further down the line too.”
