Mayo Punters Remain Confident Curse Will Lift

There is still confidence in Mayo that their All-Ireland curse will soon be banished to the history books despite missing out on Sam Maguire again at the hands of Tyrone at the weekend.

Goals from Cathal McShane and Darren McCurry helped the Red Hand county prevail by five points at Croke Park on Saturday, condemning the Westerners to their sixth All-Ireland Final defeat in the last ten years.

…making them third favourites to be crowned All-Ireland Senior Football champions for the first time since 1951.

Dublin, who started this year’s Championship as 4/6 odds-on favourites before their seven-in-a-row bid was ended by Mayo at the semi-final stage, are front-runners again according to the early betting but at the bigger price of 11/8.

Kerry are rated their main dangers at 13/8, while Tyrone are 10/1 shots to defend their status as All-Ireland champions after getting their hands on silverware in their first campaign under joint managers Feargal Logan and Brian Dooher.
