Pete’s Picks – Sunday’s Live GAA Analysis & Tips

If Kilkenny are to retain their All-Ireland SHC title TJ Reid could be the man to steer them to ultimate glory in Henry Shefflin’s talismanic absence.

Kilkenny v Wexford, Hurling, RTÉ, 2pm
In Nowlan Park Brian Cody’s brigade face Wexford (4/1) in the Leinster SHC semi-final and the Cats are 2/9 favourites to dispose of their fierce rivals.

Had Jack Guiney still been involved in Liam Dunne’s camp siding with Wexford in receipt of a seven-point jump-start at 8/11 might have been on the cards as the Slaneysiders’ development graph has been on an upward curve for a while now.

However, the issue surrounding his departure from the squad – Dunne dropped Guiney for alleged alcohol intake the night of Wexford’s win over Westmeath – will not have done their overall preparation any favours as the Yellowbellies venture into the lion’s pit.

Of course, it could galvanise the panel further yet Guiney’s loss is still a notable one, illustrated by the fact he pilfered 4-5 for Rathnure in a league match last Thursday night.

With all of that in mind, it is difficult to argue against Cody’s hosts engineering a match-winning total once more.

Yet, it may pay to focus on the side markets like the total match goals markets – backing over 3.5 goals at 11/10 to a small stake is advised.

Pete’s Picks:
Total Match Goals Over 3.5 @ 11/10

Limerick v Tipperary, Hurling, RTÉ, 4pm
Tipperary enter the Championship at the Munster SHC semi-final stage with Limerick pencilled in as their opponents and Eamon O’Shea’s side can take the first of four steps towards lifting the Liam MacCarthy Cup at the Gaelic Grounds.

The Premier unit have been the choice of this writer to win the All-Ireland SHC title for quite some time and Tipperary are cracking 10/11 shots to overcome TJ Ryan’s men by three points or more on this occasion.

Limerick, of course, have many qualities and are sure to be backed by a host of punters who may view their match-betting quote of 7/4 as excessive given their record in recent years against the same opposition.

However, Ryan’s unit have shown enough psychological chinks in their armour in the last number of seasons to be swerved.

Tipperary are also a value shout to win the tie by four to six points in the winning margin market at a tasty 4/1.

Furthermore, take BoyleSports’ 11/4 that O’Shea’s soldiers storm to the All-Ireland crown.

Even if Tipperary were to lose to Limerick I genuinely expect them to be stronger as the summer progresses.

Additionally, support Seamus Callanan and Pádraic Maher in the Hurler of the Year market at enticing prices.

Pete’s Picks:
Tipperary -2 (Match Handicap) @ 10/11
Tipperary To Win By 4-6 Points @ 4/1
Tipperary All-Ireland SHC title @ 11/4
Seamus Callanan Hurler of the Year @ 11/1
Pádraic Maher Hurler of the Year @ 25/1
