Tyrone’s Kieran McGeary And Conor Meyler In Footballer Of The Year Battle

A pair of Tyrone All-Ireland winners are involved in a tight tussle to be crowned GAA Senior Football Championship Player of the Year according to the betting moves following their victory over Mayo.

Cathal McShane and Darren McCurry both hit the net as the Red Hand county prevailed by five points at Croke Park to land their first All-Ireland title since 2008 in their first campaign under managers Feargal Logan and Brian Dooher.

A Man of the Match performance from Kieran McGeary means the half-back is now an odds-on favourite for the Footballer of the Year gong after he was gambled all the way into 4/7 from 11/4 after the final whistle.

Conor Meyler is rated the most likely teammate to capitalise should McGeary be overlooked and he is still firmly in the picture after shortening into 9/4 from 10/1.

Goalkeeper Niall Morgan and forward Darren McCurry are the only other candidates who came in for any significant support in the aftermath of the final, with both slashed into 8/1 from the 28/1 being offered at throw-in.
