Get On The McManus Colours In Wexford Feature

There is plenty of action at Galway and Wexford this bank holiday weekend with some nice prospects on show but also some good betting opportunities.

McInerney’s Good Run Can Continue
Just nine runners line up for the feature handicap chase at Wexford which is a bit of a poor turnout for a decent prize and on just his second start for Gordon Elliott, the 3/1 favourite was Ned Stark who could yet develop into a big player in this sort of company.

Unfortunately the son of Presenting never really developed into the horse it looked like he might but he showed something of a spark when finishing fifth over the trip at Navan last month and with just 9st11lbs on his back he could just be value at 9/1.

Good Day for McInerney
It could be a good day for the in-form claimer as earlier on the Wexford card he’s been booked on Dry Run, who is a more tentative selection, but the five-year-old makes interest.

Typical of a lot of low grade handicaps in Ireland, if the same 14 runners in this 3m 80-95 rated handicap hurdle were to meet four or five times you’d probably get a different result each time, but…

Dry Run comes here on the back of an encouraging run at Downpatrick.

He had little chance in beating the odds-on favourite Poormans Hill that day but in just his second handicap, he outran his odds of 33/1 and now comes to connections’ local track looking to secure a first win.

Dry Run is effectively running off a mark of 78 with McInerney’s claim and he showed enough on his last run to suggest that he can be competitive off that.

Cromwell Has Good Prospects
Lucky Pass and Gallahers Cross are two horses of interest at Galway today as they both have a lofty reputation but the former is having his first start in 671 days and the latter makes his seasonal debut for a new yard.

However, one with more recent form to go on is Gavin Cromwell’s Prospectus who can get back to winning ways in the feature at Ballybrit, which also has just nine runners.

Prospectus was last a winner back in January but he ran well in Listowel in the Lartigue Hurdle and was second on the level last time but is a four-year-old that looks to have enough form to beat Go Darsi Go and the 10-year-old Kylecrue.

Paul Townend is booked for the four-year-old who could make the most of his mark of 129 and has a four-year-old allowance in this company as well which should help him over the line.
