Aidan-O’Brien

Goddess To Reign For O’Brien At Curragh

Results at the last few Curragh meetings have proven difficult for punters but we think we have the pin in the right one today.

Check In With Murtagh
Pincheck was the horse that made most appeal in the Cambridgeshire today at the Curragh but unfortunately that horse is now a non runner and therefore the selection switches to the Johnny Murtagh-trained Windsor Beach.

The five-year-old has been a beaten favourite a couple of times since last winning a modest enough contest in Cork last year but this would be a fair way to get off the mark for the year in the €100,000 feature.

Windsor Beach ran a fine race at Galway, not beaten that far by Riven Light, and earlier in the year at the Curragh he was second to Cambridgeshire winner Sea Wolf in a Premier Handicap over todays course and distance.

The handicapper has been sympathetic in only putting him up a pound for his decent shows this season and his best runs seem to be in bigger fields with the hustle and bustle of a competitive handicap so…

at 20/1 he could be the one worth directing your way way play to.

O’Brien Doing A Rain Dance
It would be a surprise if Aidan O’Brien didn’t win the first race with Christopher Robin who made a likeable debut at Leopardstown and can be expected to come on from that but the odds on price that he is chalked up at might not appeal to many.

However, later on the card Rain Goddess can be expected to get her head back in front for just the second time in the Snow Fairy Filly Stakes.

The 5/2 shot was second to the best around, Enable, last time out in the Irish Oaks after being previously second in the Sandringham at Royal Ascot and the Pretty Polly Stakes.

The daughter of Galileo has been out of the winners enclosure since making a winning debut for David Wachman on her only start as a juvenile but…

that wait can come to an end with this drop in class.

Recommended Bets:
Christopher Robin (8/11) – 1.30 Curragh
Rain Goddess (9/4) – 3.45 Curragh
Windsor Beach (20/1) – 4.20 Curragh
