Gold Cup Hero Minella Indo Favourite For Champion Chase At Down Royal

The 2021 Champion Chase is the feature event at Down Royal on Saturday with Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Minella Indo the fancied favourite to win on his seasonal debut.

The Henry de Bromhead trained superstar was an excellent winner of the Gold Cup back in March with plenty of horse racing enthusiasts looking forward to seeing him race for the first time since his emphatic victory.

We have priced up the Grade One race at Down Royal with Minella Indo the 4/5 favourite to win the €73,750 prize and start the new season off in style.

There is plenty of hot competition however, with the Gordon Elliott trained Galvin rated as one of the main dangers at 7/2.

This seven-year-old son of Gold Well has been enjoying a purple patch lately as he remains unbeaten in his last six runs, with his recent win coming at Punchestown earlier this month when winning the Grade Three Irish Daily Star Chase.

King George hero Frodon is 7/2 for trainer Paul Nicholls and this talented nine-year-old is sure to attract a big audience to the Northern track. 2019 winner Road To Respect is 8/1 alongside Irish Gold Cup winner Delta Work. Elliott’s third runner is Ravenhill is 50/1 as well as John Patrick Ryan’s Fairyhill Run.
