Ryder Cup WAGs: Europe v USA

The Ryder Cup may be about the 12 guys on either side of the divide doing battle but let’s not forget the supporting cast of wives and girlfriends, eh?

These spouses deserve our attention just as much as the actual golfers – in some cases, lots more attention. Here’s the cream of the crop:

Team Europe

Martin Kaymer’s Wife, Allison Micheletti:
Despite them recently splitting up we’re throwing Martin Kaymer’s ex-wife Allison Micheletti into the mix purely because she is bloody beautiful. A professional golfer in her own right, Micheletti was born into a sports-mad family with her dad a former professional hockey player. The Arizona native left the German giant Kaymer for some NHL dweeb called Mike Modano – how could she?

Rory McIlroy’s Girlfriend, Sasha Gale:
Frankly, you don’t name a child Sasha unless you’re expecting them to be beautiful and Gale’s folks weren’t wrong: Rory’s new squeeze is like something a Renaissance artist would create on a canvas! McIlroy certainly wasn’t wasting any time on the social scene after his relationship with Caroline Wozniacki went belly-up but aesthetically speaking, we reckon the 23-year old Irish model is quite the upgrade.

Graeme McDowell’s wife, Kristin Stape:
Kristin Stape, eh? Not bad for a boy from Portrush! McDowell may have one of the strangest accents this side of the Atlantic but that didn’t put Stape off putting a ring on it – oh, no. The American interior designer married McDowell back in October 2013.

Team USA

Hunter Mahan’s wife, Kandi Mahan:
It’s not every day you get to marry a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader, is it? Texas native, Hunter Mahan may be one of the stars of the US golf circuit and won numerous tournaments but frankly speaking, we reckon his greatest achievement so far is bagging this absolute stunner. The couple married in 2011 just six months after meeting which is understandable when you really think about it from Mahan’s perspective, amirite?

Jordan Spieth’s girlfriend, Annie Veret:
John Deere Classic champion, Jordan Spieth is doing quite well for himself in both his professional and personal life going by the below picture of his long term girlfriend Annie Veret. The young pair are what’s known in the US of A as ‘High school sweethearts’ but that’s hardly saying much seeing as the American golfing prodigy is barely out of nappies! Still, the boy has done good.

Webb Simpson’s wife, Dowd Simpson:
There’s very few golf WAGs as dedicated and loving as Webb Simpson’s missus, Dowd, who is known to regularly travel the world with the 2012 US Open champion and even caddie for him from time to time. We can certainly understand why he insists on such arrangements given just how bloody delicious she is; she can caddy for us any time!

Europe might be strong favourites to win the Ryder Cup but we reckon the USA might just edge ahead of the WAGs race purely down to the fact one of the lads has managed to bag himself a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader. What do you think?
