Remember The Name – Jack Kennedy Is The Jockey To Watch

The Troytown is a big handicap chase and a local race for us at Navan, so it was nice to win with Riverside City, but to have a first and second was extra special.

Troytown
Azorian and Bonisland were the 2 obvious ones for the race and both came out for different reasons, so to come away with the 1-2 in the race was unbelievable, but Jack (Kennedy) and Luke (Dempsey) were very good on them.

Georges Conn who was 2nd jumps and stays so we’ll have to have a look at the 4-miler at Cheltenham, the National Hunt Chase.

Future Star
Jack Kennedy who rode the winner is a good lad, he’s very laid back and had 3 winners on the day. It was his first win over fences in only his 4th or 5th ride. I’ve spoken about him before and he’s a very level-headed fella and a great up and coming jockey.

He’s very cool on a horse, takes his time and does everything right. At only 16 years of age, he has a lot in front of him so with a bit of luck and if he stays in one piece, he should have some great times ahead of him. He just seems to have it!

King George
I thought Cue Card was great in the Betfair Chase on Saturday. He jumped and travelled well, he’s very good on his day. He won a Cheltenham Bumper as a 4yo and seems to have won a big race every year since, he’s a superstar.

Haydock Racecourse - Betfair Chase Day

Vautour also looked good on his return to the track at Ascot on Saturday. He looked like he got a bit tired but he’s going to be one of the top staying chasers this year so it’ll be interesting to see what route Willie Mullins takes with him.

It means the King George should be a great race with these two potentially lining up against my horse Don Cossack at Kempton, although it’s a few weeks away yet and anything can happen in between.

It’s looking like the King George could turn out to be one of the races of the year.

Weekend Action
There are 3 Grade Ones on Sunday at Fairyhouse and we’ll probably have runners in all 3.

I’d imagine No More Heroes will go for the Drinmore Novice Chase, Tagliatelle will go for the Hatton’s Grace Hurdle and Roman Gold will take his chances in the Ryan Bond Novice Hurdle.

I’m really looking forward to it as it’s that time of the year to get excited with a lot of good horses running. Thankfully we’re able to compete with most of them.
