Great Name That & Newinn Session Joint Favourites For Easter Cup

The 2021 Easter Cup kicks off on Saturday evening at Shelbourne Park with an early battle at the head of the betting between Liam Dowling’s Great Name That and Graham Holland’s Newinn Session.

Both talented greyhounds are 8/1 and it’s hard to split the pair based on what they have done in the past. Newinn Session was the favourite at one stage for the English Greyhound Derby and although he hasn’t raced much at Shelbourne Park, he is one to fear despite returning from a break.

Exciting youngster Ballymac Ariel is 10/1 to win the Easter Cup for Liam Dowling and this lady will go far in the competition after showing us all what she can do over the shorter trip of 525 yards with 27.94.

Another youngster to look forward to is Knight Tornado for Ollie Bray who is just 12/1. He has been off the track since October when finishing third in the Juvenile Derby and is another with blistering form on his card as he clocked 27.88 for the 525 yards and steps up in trip to the 550 for the first time.

The 2020 English Greyhound Derby winner Deerjet Sydney makes his 2021 debut and is 14/1 along with recent St. Leger winner Epic Hero. Deerjet Sydney’s kennelmates Glengar Bale and Knocknaboul Syd are 10/1 and 16/1 respectively.

Graham Holland boasts an incredible kennel with twelve runners and Native Maestro could be the one at 10/1. He has seven wins from eight starts while his kennelmate Ballydoyle Valor is 20/1. 2020 BoyleSports Irish Greyhound Derby finalist Ballymac Wild is 10/1 with his kennelmate Ballymac Cooper 16/1.

This is one of the best Easter Cup line ups we have seen for many years as every single heat has an abundance of talent, speed and pace.

Saturday night is going to be epic!
