Ballymac Kingdom Joint Favourite To Make History At Shelbourne
One of Liam Dowling’s superstars Ballymac Kingdom is the joint favourite to become the only dual winner of the Shelbourne Open 600 in the same calendar year.
This powerhouse won the 2020 renewal back in January after the competition was rescheduled due to the pandemic.
We make the 2020 St Leger semi-finalist the 5/1 joint favourite to make history for his County Kerry handler with recent Easter Cup finalist Billys Diva joining him at the top of the market.
Billys Diva was very unlucky to get knocked out of the Con & Annie Kirby Memorial last weekend but she will be strongly fancied to become the first bitch to win the Shelbourne Open 600 since 1990.
Beach Avenue ran a stormer in the Easter Cup and this step up in trip is sure to suit the Paul Hennessy-trained talent.
The €15,000 competition has just 24 entries but what it lacks in quantity, it certainly makes up for it in quality with last year’s BoyleSports Irish Greyhound Derby finalist Ballymac Wild 8/1 and another star from the Dowling kennels, 6/1 chance Great Name That, who was runner-up in the Kingdom Derby earlier last December.
Other contestants in with a chance at bigger odds include Amazing Champ at 12/1, Priceless Jet at 14/1, Own Spice and Razldazl Peaky both at 25/1.
The Con & Annie Kirby Memorial continues in Limerick on Saturday night with eight fantastic heats to look forward to. Prices for all individual races at both Limerick and Shelbourne Park will be available with BoyleSports on Saturday morning.
Explosive Boy became the new 5/1 favourite from 12/1 last week following his blistering 28.08 victory with kennelmates Ballymac Cashout and Ballymac Ariel both at 8/1. Singalong Sally is 10/1 and is fancied to win her heat along with Droopys Fittest who was cut into 14/1 from 66/1 and is one to watch out for with his trainer Robert Gleeson the most recent winning trainer in this competition with Toolmaker Josie.
