Clares Rocket Favourite To Shoot To Success In BoyleSports IGD

BoyleSports Irish Greyhound Derby

Outright Betting

The draw for the 2016 BoyleSports Irish Greyhound Derby was made on Monday morning at Shelbourne Park and already the firm can report a massive liability on current 5/1 favourite Clares Rocket.

Trained by Graham Holland, who bids to win the classic that he hasn’t yet added to his lustrous CV, the son of Confident Rankin was initially installed at 50/1 back in January to win the race.

His price quickly collapsed over the past few months after he set Shelbourne Park alight in the semi of the Champion Stakes semi-final with a 29.19 run.

Defending champion Ballymac Matt is due to contest Heat 7 on Thursday where he will occupy trap three can be backed at 14/1 to retain the crown. English Derby champion Jaytee Jet has landed a hot Heat 13, but five of the six runners will qualify for the next round. Paul Hennessy’s English Derby champion is currently 12/1 to complete the famous Derby Double.

Droopys Roddick is currently the 10/1 second favourite to win the race and was definitely the unlucky dog in this year’s English Derby Final. Last seen winning the Dundalk International in a track record run, this lad is a real competition dog and gets stronger and stronger.

Sponsor John Boyle will be hoping that either of his entries, BoyleSports Duke and BoyleSports Jet, who are both currently 40/1, can go all the way and keep the €125,000 first prize money in the satchel.

Our Money back offer is already proving extremely popular with customers and we wish all connections with entries the very best of luck in the competition and may the best dog win come final night on Saturday September 17th.

We’re giving money back as a free bet if your dog is knocked out either in the first or second round of the competition.
