Deadly Destroyer Shortens For BoyleSports Irish Greyhound Derby

The second round of the BoyleSports Irish Greyhound Derby kicks off on Friday evening at Shelbourne Park and while the market leaders remain popular, Deadly Destroyer is starting to pick up momentum again.

Trained by Karol Ramsbottom, this speedster was the 4/6 favourite for the BoyleSports Champion Stakes last month after producing a sensational 29.40 in the semi-finals. This son of Droopys Jet – Cruel Intentions was as low as 16/1 before the Derby started but was eased out to 33/1 since the Champion Stakes.

However, some support arrived on Thursday resulting in us cutting him into 25/1 to win the €125,000 blue riband event next month.

We have also reported plenty of support gathering behind Mark O’Donovan’s bitch Skywalker Cilla. This daughter of Laughil Blake – Droopys Zero made her debut over the 550 yards trip last week finishing six lengths behind the winner Broadstrand Ryan in a fast 29.66.

That was her first race since winning the Champion Bitch Stakes at Thurles in March and her odds have been clipped into 8/1 from 16/1 to be the top bitch of the BoyleSports Irish Greyhound Derby. Her outright odds have been nibbled over the last few weeks too into 33/1 from 100/1.
