Magical Bale 10/3 From 6/1 For English Greyhound Derby

Leading trainer Kevin Hutton is sitting pretty at the top of the English Greyhound Derby outright with his two kennel stars sharing favouritism.

Magical Bale performed a stunning display to win his heat on Saturday night recording a career best time of 29.14 around the Nottingham circuit. We’ve cut his price into 10/3 from 6/1 with his kennel buddy Dorotas Wildcat also 7/2, cut from 4/1.

Unfortunately for Hutton, the pair are drawn in the same heat next Saturday with Magical Bale in trap two and Dorotas Wildcat in trap three with an epic battle anticipated between the derby experts.

Dorotas Wildcat won this competition last year as the 2/1 second favourite and Magical Bale was runner up in the 2018 BoyleSports Irish Greyhound Derby behind Ballyanne Sim, who has been cut form 20/1 into 16/1.

Not many bitches win derby finals but there are two remaining in the semi-finals, and they face each other in the second heat. Queen Beyonce worked her wonderful magic to win her heat, picking up the boys and early leader Ballyanne Sim to win by a length and a quarter in 29.56.

Beyonce has been cut into 6/1 from 12/1 following that superb display with the other bitch Ballymac Tas 25/1 eased from 33/1.

Paul Hennessy is no stranger to derby success having won the English version in 2016 with the incredible Jaytee Jet. The ‘Jaytee’ prefix lives on in Jaytee Taylor, a finalist in the BoyleSports Irish Greyhound Derby known for his excellent back straight pace and strong finish.

He is a dog that you don’t want to come from behind you with his price now 15/2 from 9/1 after his one length second place finish to Dorotas Wildcat in their quarter final.
