Wolfe Attracting Support In Irish Greyhound St Leger

Irish St Leger

Outright Betting

The Night of Stars is fast approaching, but first greyhound enthusiasts will be treated to the Irish St Leger at Limerick greyhound track next month.

We have made the 2019 Cesarewitch winner Skywalker Logan, 2018 English Greyhound Derby finalist Jaytee Taylor and speedster Wolfe, the 8/1 co-favourites for the coveted trophy.

Wolfe has been attracting all the support on Thursday morning with his odds of 8/1 trimmed from 10/1

…while Ballyhimikin Jet has been made the joint 10/1 second favourite, cut from 12/1.

Wolfe was the ante post favourite for the BoyleSports Irish Greyhound Derby after he recorded a blistering 29.22 in the opening round over 550 yards.

He was knocked out in the third round but is a greyhound who possesses a huge amount of speed and power. His 18.62, 350 yards sprint trial around the Limerick circuit suggests he is in rude health and is ready to return from his short break and the punters are eager to support the Graham Holland trained star.

This classic competition has a stellar line up including BoyleSports Irish Greyhound Derby finalist Run Happy (10/1), 2019 English Greyhound Derby champion Priceless Blake (12/1), recent Irish Laurels finalists Newinn Lester and Clona Blaze (16/1) and last year’s St Leger finalist Clonbrien Prince (12/1).

A greyhound to watch out for at bigger odds is the 2019 Juvenile Derby semi-finalist Jaytee Storm who has been cut into 25/1 from 33/1 with some shrewd punters getting on early.

The opening round of the Irish St Leger will get underway this weekend and 72 greyhounds will begin the event across 12 heats, all of which will take place on this Saturday’s card.

The competition has been running in Limerick since 1944 and the winner of this year’s competition will earn €30,000 for connections, a 20% increase on last year’s winning prize.
