Yolo For Sevenhouses Success

Ballinveala Yolo looks the part in this year’s Seamus Hughes Memorial Cup in Sevenhouses this weekend.

After an impressive run through the Cup in Cashel earlier this season, Yolo appeared out in Listowel where he reached the semi-final. He looked to be flying along the way before being over turned by Needham Eoin. He hasn’t appeared out since which suggests he might have picked up a little niggle.

His connections’ patience can be rewarded on Sunday evening.

His biggest danger will come from Touch Of Class. This John Kiely trained lady is gasping for Champion Stakes points. At the moment she sits comfortably in sixth position but results elsewhere can push her further down. She looks fairly safe at the moment but results at Tubbercurry and Clonakilty can shove her further down the pecking order.

Then we have Macroom midweek where I’m sure a few bitches will appear in the draw! At the top of the draw Wiseguy Mark is an interesting runner; he hasn’t performed to his true form this season (maybe we saw glimpses of it in Glin) so he is out to prove a point. If he is anywhere back to his old self he can sail through to the final. After all is said and done however I find it hard to look past the bitch Touch Of Class and Ballinveala Yolo. Both are in top form this season so far.

Touch Of Class went unsighted in North Kilkenny where she looked to fly. They could clash in the semi-final, if this is to happen expect fireworks! Yolo can just shade it. In the Oaks Trial Stake keep an eye on Patterdale Diane; her style of running should suit the field and on her running in Borrisoleigh she can go close!

Trilla in West Cork
Triallinminella will be hoping to cement her place in the top eight in the Champion Bitch Stake with a win in the Big Fella Thanks Cup in Clonakilty. After winning the Bitch Stake in Johnstown and finishing runner-up in the Kingdom Cup in Tralee to Skellig Shane, she currently sits on ten points and just outside the magical eight.

Trilla isn’t the only bitch gasping for points; Gripwell Nance went very close last time out in Wexford. A win or a runner-up position will do Nancy to secure her position in the draw. There could be one or two mouth-watering battles in the bottom half of this draw.

An outright win for Floating Victor will book his place in the draw for the Champion Stakes but he will have to be on his guard however in the first course. He meets Dromtullabeg in the first course. This fellow is a bullet for a round or two and actually won down at this meeting last season. Yes it was only a three course duffer but he was clocking with the best of them in the field that day.

Kerry Supreme is also on the hunt for the points on offer, he sits on 9 points as we speak after running up in Abbeydorney and taking the maximum points on offer in Lixnaw.
Safe Wonder will be hoping to throw the cat amongst the pigeons against the big two. On his running in Cappoquinn he is well capable of upsetting them. Going by the draw Trillainminella looks to have the easier path way to the final, what comes up to meet her is the million dollar question.

If I had to put my head on the chopping block I would just side with Kerry Supreme.

Trilla gets a biased vote for outright honours!
