Bonny-Kate

Bonny Kate The Worst National Outcome For BoyleSports

All eyes will be on the BoyleSports Irish Grand National at 5pm on Easter Monday and it’s currently a tie for favouritism at the head of the betting.

Gordon Elliott’s Mala Beach and the Noel Meade trained Bonny Kate are locked together at 8/1 while Jim Dreaper’s Venitien De Mai follows closely at 9/1. Mala Beach’s stablemate and Kim Muir winner Causes Of Causes is next in the betting at 12/1 alongside another stablemate Killer Crow and the Jonjo O’Neill trained Another Hero.

Sandra Hughes will be represented by last year’s winner Thunder And Roses who is currently 20/1 to repeat his success…

…whilst the Curragh based handler will also saddle Sub Lieutenant (14/1) and Wrath Of Titans (25/1).

Last year’s winning rider Katie Walsh will partner Baie Des Iles for her husband Ross O’Sullivan and is currently priced at 20/1 whilst Katie’s brother Ruby will be aboard Cheltenham Cross Country third placed Bless The Wings who is priced at 16/1.

Kerry Lee who was victorious on Sunday with her first ever Irish runner when Kylemore Lough landed the Grade 1 Ryanair Gold Cup, will be represented by Russe Blanc who is 25/1 to provide the trainer with another big race success.

But it’s Bonny Kate who is already a large five figure loser for the firm having been backed down to her current price of 8/1 from 16/1 over the past few weeks. The progressive daughter of Beneficial will be hoping to give Noel Meade his second success in the race having last won it with The Bunny Boiler back in 2002.
