Bristol De Mai Leads Action At Kelso

Naas was unfortunately found to be still feeling the hardship of the recent weather but the action in England on Sunday is better than usual and after suffering the blow of losing his best chance of a Cheltenham Festival winner in his maiden season, Olly Murphy could be the man to follow today.

There’s some good action at Kelso including Bristol De Mai who should have no problem returning to winning ways in the three runner conditions chase and he’s one you could safely add to a treble with a couple of Murphy runners, the first of which is Whiskey In The Jar.

The six-year-old son of Oscar lines up in the Grade 2 novice hurdle and although he meets the likes of Arthington, Beeno and Better Getalong on much worse terms than he would in a handicap..

..Whiskey In The Jar just looks like a horse who is rapidly on the upgrade.

Whiskey In The Jar has absolutely bolted up on his last two outings and while this is a real step up in class, the horse seems to love this ground and his shrewd trainer thinks he is a better horse than his current rating so that is encouraging confidence.

Cross card double

Murphy also has runners at Market Rasen on Sunday and it would be no surprise if he has more than just one winner there, but it is Calipso Collonges in the finale that is picked as his best chance of a winner.

Murphy has a good relationship with claimer Fergus Gregory and there’s the added bonus that Gregory claims 6lbs in this race rather than just 3lbs as he is attached to the yard

..and that will help Calipso Collonges defy top weight.

Another who will be comfortable on the testing ground, Calipso Collonges has also won his last two starts and similarly to his most recent efforts, he just looks like a horse that has been extremely well placed by the fledging trainer. His rating of 110 still looks lenient and hopefully he can make a mockery of it today.
