Can Japan Continue Aidan O’Brien’s Classic Run?

The 2000 and 1000 Guineas has come and gone at Newmarket with tremendous results for Aidan O’Brien winning both classics, with Magna Grecia providing the Ballydoyle trainer with his 10th victory in the 2000 Guineas.

The Epsom Derby is taking place on Saturday, June 1st and as ever, Aidan O’Brien has a strong hand in the race.

Too Darn Hot remains the 5/1 favourite but the son of Dubawi was ruled out of the Newmarket classic on April 20 after failing to recover in time from a splint issue, which had also side-lined him from the Greenham Stakes at Newbury.

However, the John Gosden trained 3-year old has resumed cantering with the Dante Stakes at York his new target. Japan could take over as the favourite for the Epsom Derby with the Aidan O’Brien trained star currently priced at 6/1 from 12/1. Aidan also trains Broome who is 10/1 from 16/1.

Madhmoon finished fourth in the 2000 Guineas on Saturday and the Kevin Prendergast star is currently 12/1 from 33/1 for the Epsom Derby with us.

Magna Grecia was made the 4/1 favourite from 16/1 on Saturday for the Epsom Derby after his terrific 2000 Guineas victory, but it has been confirmed his target is now the Irish Guineas at the Curragh and the St James Palace at Ascot.
