Cork The Pick Of The Domestic Action

The Dubai World Cup is definitely the main attraction today as the domestic fare is quite ordinary but mudlarks should come to the fore in Cork and the final two races may provide the best options there.

Cee a winner

Most of the runners in the penultimate apprentice race at Cork are having their first run of the year so it’s hard to get a gauge on fitness, especially when some of these trainers would have been held up badly with the snow over the last month or so.

However, Susan Finn may have missed the worst of it in Cork and..

..she has a good yardstick to go to war with in these kind of races in Youceeyouceecee

..and she’s done a great job in placing him last year.

He’s back for more now and having a jockey like Killian Leonard on your side in these type of races is a big plus and he looks like one that could win again off his current rating.

Youceeyouceecee handles the ground and has previously won off a rating a pound higher than today’s mark of 73 so he does look a solid choice over a trip that should be okay for him despite all his previous wins coming over seven-furlongs.

Bolger to open account
Veteran and legendary trainer Jim Bolger will have his sights on some big prizes again this year but one of his lesser lights Rince Deireanach could be the one that gets him off the mark for the current campaign.

Rince Deireanach found a good opportunity when signing off last season with a win in a Fairyhouse handicap over six furlongs and she steps up a further couple of furlongs to a mile now..

..but just looked like a filly that would prove too good in this lower rating handicap.

The daughter of Teofilo was winning at the second time of asking in a handicap but she really did seem to relish the conditions and it is interesting to see that Bolger has opted to leave the tongue tie off this time.

It’s not a race you’d want to empty the balance on but it is very tough to make a case for plenty of her rivals.

Recommended Bets:
Youceeyouceecee 5.05 Cork – 7/1
Rince Deireanach 5.40 Cork – 11/4
