Crowley To Get Punters Off To A Winner At Chester

The two advised bets on the second day of the Chester May meeting come up early on the card and familiar colours could indeed get the better of Aidan O’Brien in the Huxley Stakes.

Frankie’s Royal visit
On Wednesday we saw Frankie Dettori lower the colours of Aidan O’Brien’s favourite Alluringly when partnering Enable for John Gosden in the Cheshire Oaks and on Thursday it could be Gosden and Dettori who team up again to win the the Group 3 contest.

Deauville is the O’Brien representative in this contest over an extended 10-furlongs but it is Gosden’s runner, Royal Artillery, owned by the Coolmore powers of Magnier, Tabor and Smith, who is picked to come out on top.

Deauville and Royal Artillery both lined up in the Gordon Richards Stakes a couple of weeks ago at Sandown and on that run the selection has a good bit to find with Deauville but that was Royal Artillery’s first run since last August when he ran a game race behind the highly talented Irish Champion Stakes winner Almanzor and he can be expected to strip much fitter for that and that could help him reverse that form with the top horse.

Crowley & Khairaat

In the opener Sir Michael Stoute will saddle Khairaat for the first time in a race for 245 days but

off a mark of 91 the Hamdan Al Maktoum owned colt looks well able to exploit that rating.

The two-time winner ended last season winning against older horses at Doncaster and given that he didn’t run as a two-year-old and only three times last season with a sizeable gap between his two wins it could be fair to say that Khairaat isn’t the easiest to train but he could be worth waiting for this season off a nice mark like this.

Champion jockey Jim Crowley takes the ride for his boss and although he is a short priced favourite, he looks to be a horse that can get punters off to a good start on day two, given that the form of his last win has produced a number of winners and Stoute’s horses have been in good form this month.

Recommended Bets:
Khairaat (11/10) – 1.50 Chester
Royal Artillery (9/2) – 2.25 Chester
