Dundalk Star Chiclet Could Be Hit For Six

There’s some good prize money on offer at Dundalk on Sunday and a couple of decent bets to look out for.

Chiclet Hit For Six?
Five time course and distance winner Chiclet will bid to defy a 10lbs hike in the handicap for her impressive win here last month when she got the better of Primo Uomo.

Primo Uomo himself has since also gone up 10lbs for subsequently finishing third at Tipperary and winning here last month. There is no doubting that Chiclet is a Dundalk specialist but whether she can win off the career high mark would be a question mark.

Tithonus however, right down at the bottom of the handicap, could be a good alternative.

Trained in Tipperary by in form Denis Hogan, Tithonus won at the Galway Festival and followed it up a few days later to win again at Cork and ran a good race at Leopardstown to finish third behind McGuigan.

On his latest start, Tithonus finished third behind Moviesta in which The Happy Prince was second and that runner gave the form a boost at Navan yesterday so go with Denis Hogan’s charge to come out on top this time around.

Good Opportunity For Lynam
There are two divisions of the Ecological Waste Management Handicap but focussing on the first of them Matriarch looks like a filly who can open her account.

The Eddie Lynam-trained three-year-old put in her best effort to date but found one too good at Bellewstown when finishing second to My Painter and for her troubles the handicapper gave her 4lbs.

But with Declan McDonogh again retaining the ride, the daughter of Strategic Prince may just prove too good for her 13 rivals on this occasion.

Recommended Bets:
Tithonus (6/1) – 2:00 Dundalk
Matriarch (5/1) – 4:00 Dundalk
