Racing returns to Downpatrick on Sunday while Cork stage a good card with the Cork Derby and Munster Oaks taking centre stage there and hopefully we’ve picked out a decent prospect at each fixture.

Sea The Lion landed a few nice bets when winning on his seasonal debut at Leopardstown on Derrinstown day and Jarlath Fahey’s charge might just be able to score again in the Cork Derby.

The seven-year-old is lightly raced and was actually due to run in this race last year only to be taken out because of the change in going and while this will take a career best effort for him to win, the handicapper only gave him a 3lbs hike to defy and that should give him every chance.

A few from the Leopardstown race are back to oppose again and Richard O’Brien’s Alcatraz is an obvious danger but Sea The Lion is well entitled to improve for his first run of the season and connections seemed confident that he would have a good summer ahead.
