3.10 Grade One Mares Novice Hurdle

He said: “It’s a cracking renewal of the Grade One Mares Novice Hurdle and Love Envoi will probably start as the favourite and deserves to after her performance at Cheltenham. That was over 2 miles and she has already won over 2m4f so this will definitely suit her.”

“Brandy Love is a talented mare but she keeps going to the left so she will have get that out of the equation as she threw the race away the last day at this track. If she jumps straight, she will be a huge danger. I’d imagine Paul Townend will drop her in somewhere down the inside and try and get her covered up and keep her straight.”

“My own ride in the race Say Goodbye will be a big price but she has an each way chance. She is in very good form at home. She didn’t run at Cheltenham because the ground was too soft for her; she will appreciate this ground.”

“Love Envoi is unbeaten over hurdles this season so I think she is the one to beat. She is improving the whole time and my only concern for her would be if the ground was more on the good side than the soft side.”

“Colm Murphy is a great trainer for the big days with Impervious not without a chance either as she steps up in trip.”

4.20 BoyleSports Novice Handicap Chase

“Only ten runners but it’s still very competitive. Buddy Rich for Gordon Elliott was fourth on his last start at Fairyhouse behind Dunvegan brings plenty of experience to the table. He missed the Cheltenham Festival due to soft ground. Down the bottom of the weights with 10-3 on his back Sil Ver Klass was a very good winner of a handicap chase at Fairyhouse so he has course form.”

“Grange Walk for John Ryan has been very competitive in handicaps and won’t be too far away but I’m going to side with Buddy Rich. His run behind Dunvegan is very good and he is back in novice handicap company, and I think he will be hard to beat.”

4.55 BoyleSports Gold Cup

“This is a very good race that has a lot of quality in it but it’s all about one horse; Galopin Des Champs. I have nothing to do with this horse but to see him fall over the last at Cheltenham was heart-breaking especially for a horse to put up a performance like he did the whole way round.”

“He was about to make a very good horse in Bob Olinger look very ordinary and it would have been the performance of the week.”

“I just hope that has had no ill effect on him as we all know when novices take a fall it can knock their confidence so let’s hope he can bounce back to winning ways here. Master McShee chased Galopin Des Champs home at the Dublin Racing Festival and Riviere D’etel was placed in the Arkle at the Cheltenham Festival but it’s all about Galopin Des Champs.”
