Golden Horn Favourite To Become A Leopardstown Champion

Eight runners have been declared for Saturday’s Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown with Golden Horn heading the betting at 2/1 to bounce back to winning ways.

Dermot Weld’s Free Eagle, who was last seen winning the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot, is next in the betting at 11/4 with Gleneagles very weak in the market at 4/1.

French raider, Cirrus Des Aigles is currently priced at 9/1 with last year’s winner, The Grey Gatsby 10/1 to retain the crown.

Found (10/1), the Jim Bolger trained Pleascach (16/1) and Highland Reel (20/1) makes up the eight runner field.

With heavy rain forecast for Leopardstown on Friday evening punters are very wary to get stuck into Gleneagles and we are finding it extremely hard to give Aidan O’Brien’s three year old stable star away at present.

Golden Horn will have no problem with the ground and continues to prove popular and is by far the worst loser for the firm.

Our traders expect his current price of 2/1 to dry up quicker than the forecasted rain.
