Gosden’s Lion To Roar At Leopardstown

The biggest weekend in Irish Flat racing takes centre stage this weekend and we also have some Classic action at Doncaster on a hectic weekend of racing.

Lion To Roar Again
Roaring Lion looks hard to oppose in the Champion Stakes at Leopardstown on what is a massive afternoon for John Gosden.

In fact, Gosden is likely to also land the English St Leger after the decision to reroute Lah Ti Dar to Doncaster to take on Kew Gardens.

Roaring Lion looks to have the upper hand on Saxon Warrior and it’s hard to see why that should change today. If anything, at York last time out he looked to be at his most impressive and while their Sandown meeting suggests that there is little between himself and Saxon Warrior…

Roaring Lion looks at his best over this trip and should frank his recent form.

At Doncaster it is a massive leap into a higher grade for Lah Ti Dar but she was just so impressive at York last time out that this step up in grade and trip doesn’t look to pose a massive fear for her backers.

Old Persian and Loxley certainly add plenty of intrigue alongside the Ballydoyle representation but…

Lah Ti Dar looks like she could be another superstar filly to make her mark on this season.

Scarlet Can Cause Upset In Finale
On a card where the likes of Madhmoon and Roaring Lion are hard favourites to oppose, a chance is taken on a much bigger price in the last race at Leopardstown.

Sheila Lavery has campaigned Mr Scarlet in good company for most his career and while his rating of 100 doesn’t see him hide much from the handicapper, this drop in company could well see him make his mark.

Mr Scarlet has also been mainly tried over shorter distances and his only go over this trip of seven furlongs was in a Group 3 Ballychorus Stakes.

However, the step up in trip could well be a positive for this and there’s no doubt that the Lavery horses have been running well more recently compared to when Mr Scarlet was running earlier in the season.

The selection had a rather tough ask when taking on Battle Of Jericho and Gordon Lord Byron last week but he is a real interesting one at around 16/1 back in a handicap and…

he could be a massive winner for Robbie Colgan as he now concentrates mainly on the flat.

Recommended Bets:
Roaring Lion (5/6) – 6.35 Leopardstown
Lah Ti Dar (7/4) – 3.35 Doncaster
Mr Scarlet – 7.10 Leopardstown
