I’m Planning Big Things For My New Buy Ned Stark

We have a couple of runners tomorrow at Tipperary and we enjoy travelling around these tracks during the summer hoping to record as many winners as possible.

Tipperary On Thursday
Be Seeing You seemed a bit disappointing over his past couple of runs but hopefully the ground will dry back out. He has a tongue strap and cheek pieces on him so hopefully he will run well in his race.

Pat’s Oscar is a nice little filly and it’s her first run for us. It would be a great first race to win as it’s a bumper so if she runs respectably I’ll be happy.

The Sales

I was at the Goffs Horses In Training Sales last week and bought a lovely horse in Ned Stark.

He has plenty of different options. He could go down the hunter chasers’ route or he could be a horse we train for the Grand National, so there are lots of possibilities ahead for him. He’s a great horse to have in the yard and hopefully he can be lucky.

I also bought Bless The Wings at Goffs and he’s a similar type of horse. If he’s half as a good as him I’ll be thrilled. We ended up buying seven horses altogether last week so I’m excited to see how they all work out.

Yard Developments
We haven’t finished off the swimming pool at the yard yet, we’re still doing a general tidy up but it’s another thing I’m hugely excited about and will be a great addition for our horses.

Staff
The big news in the Racing Post this week centres around staff shortages but thankfully we don’t have any problem with staff and we look after them very well so we’re very lucky. We have new staff all the time and plenty of them are great riders also which is very important.

During the winter months we have about 45 full time staff employed and in the summer we have about 25. We’d be lost without them, truth be told.
